Chers Pères, Frères et Sœurs bien aimés en Christ,
L'année 2015 a débuté par des événements qui ont suscité une vive inquiétude non seulement en France, mais aussi dans le monde entier. En effet, les attentats terroristes qui ont viséà Paris un magazine satyrique et un supermarché ont mis sur la sellette aussi bien les questions de liberté d'expression que celles de l'antisémitisme, de l'intégrisme, du fondamentalisme, du conservatisme et du sectarisme.
Il est évident, que nous Chrétiens, ne pouvons aucunement justifier tout acte de violence. Comme l'a rappeléà de nombreuses reprises notre Patriarche œcuménique Bartholomée, en reprenant les mots de la Déclaration de Berne de 1992 et de la Déclaration du Bosphore de 1994, « un crime commis au nom de la religion est un crime contre la religion » et que « la guerre au nom de la religion est une guerre contre la religion ». Nous sommes Chrétiens, et pour cette raison, nous reconnaissons en tout homme, - indépendamment de sa race, de son sexe, de ses opinions politiques et de ses convictions religieuses, - notre frère, car crééà l'image et à la ressemblance de Dieu (Gn 1, 26).
Pour cette raison, nous Chrétiens, ne pouvons d'avantage justifier d'aucune manière le blasphème, car nous aimons Dieu et notre prochain comme nous même (Mt 22, 37-39). D'ailleurs, chacun sait très bien, par sa propre expérience, que la liberté de chacun s'arrête là, où commence la liberté d'autrui.
Le problème de l'intégrisme, qu'il soit religieux ou laïc, est toujours liéà celui de l'ignorance. Toute personne qui ne connaît pas suffisamment bien sa propre foi, et a fortiori qui ignore celle des autres, se positionne le plus souvent en victime, voyant chez l'autre une menace, et devient vulnérable à des manipulations de groupe qui la mènent vers le fanatisme et le sectarisme. C'est pourquoi, dans la lutte contre l'intégrisme et le fanatisme, l'enseignement religieux est d'une extrême importance.
Nous, Chrétiens qui plus est de tradition orthodoxe, avons la chance d'être guidés par l'Ecriture Sainte, par la Tradition de l'Église et par des pasteurs dont l'autorité provient de Dieu, qui ne cherchent pas à répondre à leur intérêts personnels ni à une idéologie quelconque, mais qui nous mènent par leur charisme d'enseignement de la foi orthodoxe vers notre salut en Jésus-Christ.
C'est précisément dans cet esprit, il y a un peu plus d'un an, que je débutais mon ministère en m'adressant à vous par une lettre pastorale le jour de mon ordination épiscopale, exprimant mon désir de vous rencontrer tous personnellement et vous invitant tous à maintenir l'unité du corps ecclésial, comme « un seul troupeau » sous « un seul pasteur » (Jn 10, 16).
Depuis, j'ai sillonné le vaste ensemble de notre exarchat patriarcal, en visitant en une année, au moins une fois, 31 paroisses et monastères, en célébrant 145 Divines Liturgies, en rencontrant le clergé et les fidèles lors des visites paroissiales, réunions des doyennés ou en les recevant personnellement à mon bureau, et en organisant une réunion pastorale et une réunion des épouses de notre clergé. Lors de chacune de ces rencontres, j'ai essayé d'être autant que possible accessible à vous tous et sensible aux questions spirituelles, pastorales, économiques et administratives de vos paroisses. Je vous ai vus, entendus et compris.
Ainsi, je connais bien le troupeau spirituel qui m'a été confié. Chaque célébration liturgique, entouré de mon clergé et de mes fidèles, m'apporte un grand réconfort et une grande joie, car c'est précisément là que ce manifeste la vie de l'Église. Lors de celles-ci, j'ai pu observer l'enthousiasme et le grand potentiel dont témoigne votre foi, et le renouveau et le fleurissement de la vie de nos paroisses dont le nombre de fidèles ne cesse de grandir, ce qui me réjouit et m'encourage grandement à poursuivre mon œuvre pastorale.
De ce fait, je suis familier, mieux que quiconque, du rayonnement et du développement de l'ensemble de nos paroisses, chacune avec ses particularités propres, aussi bien que des problèmes et des besoins de notre exarchat patriarcal auxquels j'essaie de répondre, avec l'aide de Dieu, de mon mieux dans ma sollicitude pastorale et paternelle. A cet effet, pour répondre à la venue de nouveaux fidèles, j'ai eu la joie d'ordonner 7 nouveaux diacres et 3 prêtres avec une formation théologique, sur la recommandation des prêtres responsables et compétents.
Mon devoir m'a également conduit à commencer à découvrir peu à peu des dossiers malheureusement bien plus obscurs. Cela dérange, bouscule et inquiète les intérêts particuliers d'un groupuscule qui ne doit pas avoir de place dans l'Eglise mais qui - quelle tristesse ! - semble s'être constitué et, bien qu'infiniment minoritaire, tente d'exercer un véritable pouvoir de nuisance. Ce groupuscule d'intérêts particuliers tente d'introduire parmi nous des divisions en utilisant des méthodes d'esprit sectaire. Il n'a pas craint d'avoir recourt à la déformation de la vérité, aux manipulations, à la calomnie, aux pressions psychologiques ni même aux attaques personnelles. Il va sans dire que votre Archevêque n'a pas peur des menaces car il est prêt à donner sa vie pour la vie de notre Église.
En tant que Chrétien et homme de paix, j'offre naturellement mon amour et mon pardon à tout pécheur qui se serait laisséégarer par l'égoïsme, l'orgueil ou l'ambition et qui, d'un cœur sincère, souhaiterait s'amender, corriger ses erreurs et mettre ses talents au service de l'œuvre commune de l'Eglise. Si par maladresse j'ai blessé certains d'autres vous dans mes décisions, je vous demande pardon, mais soyez assurés qu'il n'y avait ici rien de personnel, car elles ont été prises pour le bien de l'Eglise.
En tant que Chrétien et défenseur de notre Eglise orthodoxe, et que cela plaise ou non à ces agitateurs de mauvaise foi, je continuerai à prendre les décisions nécessaires pour le bien de vous tous et de l'ensemble de l'Eglise dont j'ai la charge en matière d'enseignement doctrinal et moral, d'administration et de gestion, de vie liturgique et de ministère pastoral conformément aux Saints canons et aux statuts de notre Archevêché.
Dans l'exercice de mon ministère, je vous assure de mes prières pour vous tous et votre salut, et je vous invite en retour à prier pour moi, car j'ai besoin de vos prières, de votre soutien et de votre collaboration.
Que l'esprit d'humilité guide nos cœurs affligés en ce temps du Grand Carême afin que nous puissions tous témoigner, dans l'union et la paix du Christ, de l'espérance de la Bonne Nouvelle. Que Dieu vous bénisse tous !

Очевидно, чтомы, христиане, неможемникакоправдыватьлюбойактнасилия. КакобэтоммногократнозаявлялПатриархВселенскийВарфоломей, повторяясловаБернскойдекларации 1992 годаидекларацииБосфор 1994 года, "преступление, совершенноевоимярелигии, являетсяпреступлениемпротиврелигии"ичто"войнавоимярелигии - войнапротиврелигии."Мыхристиане, ипоэтойпричинемыпризнаемвкаждомчеловеке - независимоотрасы, пола, политическихвзглядовирелигиозныхубеждений - нашегобрата, сотворенногопообразуиподобиюбожию (Быт 1 : 26).

Мы, православныехристиане, руководствуемсяСвященнымПисанием, ПреданиемЦеркви, атакжепастырскимокормлением, установленнымповолеБога, неищущимличныхинтересовинепреследующимкакой-либоидеологии, нонаправленномвсоответствиисдуховнымдаромнаученияПравославнойверекоспасениювоХристеИисусе.
Именновэтомдухе, ужеболеегода, яначалсвоеслужениеобратившисьвденьепископскогорукоположенияПастырскимпосланием, выражаяжеланиевстретитьсяскаждымличноипризываявсеххранитьединствоцерковноготела, будучи"однимстадом""единогопастыря" (Ин 10, 16).

Внихяувиделэнтузиазмипотенциалвашейверы, обновлениеирасцветжизнинашихприходов, вкоторыхвозрастаетчисловерующих, чтоменявесьмарадуетиукрепляетпродолжатьсвоеархпастырскоеслужение.
Поэтому, мнезнакомолучшечемкому-либо, развитиеипроцветаниевсехнашихприходов, такихразныхисосвоимиособенностями. ЯтакжеглубокоосведомленопроблемахипотребностяхнашегопатриаршегоЭкзархата, которыеяпытаюсьразрешитьсБожьейпомощью, спастырскойиотцовскойзаботой. Длявсегоэтого, вответнаростчислановыхприхожан, яимелрадостьрукоположить 7 новыхдьяконови 3 священниковсбогословскимобразованиемпорекомендациямответственныхикомпетентныхпастырей.
Моеслужениепривеломенятакжекпостепенномуознакомлениюсдругимиделамиэпарихии, которыексожаленьютемные. Этобеспокоит, расстраиваетибудоражитчастныеинтересымаленькойгруппировки, акакизвестно - группировкамнетместавЦеркви ! Однагрупировка, собравшаясявсвоемменьшенстве, пытается, ксожалению, вноситьвсякиенеустройствавжизньнашейобщины. Этанебольшаягруппировка, преследующаячастныеинтересы, стараетсяпосеятьразногласиемеждунами, используясектантскиеметоды. Онанебоитсяискажатьистину, прибегаеткманипуляциям, клевете, психологическомудавлениюидажекличнымнападкам. Нохочувасвсехуверить, чтовашАрхипастырьнебоитсяникакихугроз, онготовотдатьсвоюжизньзажизньнашейЦеркви.
Какхристианиничеловекмира, япредлагаюсвоюлюбовьипрощениевсякомусогрешившему, сбившемусяспутиистинычерезэгоизм, гордость, амбицииикоторыйискреннимсердцемжелаетиготовизмениться, исправитьсвоиошибкиипосвятитьсвоиталантынаслужбуобщемуделуЦеркви. Еслипосвоейнеделикатностирешений, яранилнекоторых, топрошупрощения, ноуверяю - чтоздесьнебылоничеголичного, ибоонибылипринятынаблагоЦеркви.
КакхристианинизащитникнашейПравославнойЦеркви, ябудупродолжатьприниматьнеобходимыерешениянаблаговсехвасивсейЦеркви, вкоторойянесуответственностьзавероучениеинравственность, администрациюиуправление, литургическуюжизньипастырскоеслужениевсоответствиисосвятымиканонамиистатутаминашейепархии, нравитсялиэтоилинетзлымвозмутителям.
Совершаясвоеслужение, явозношумолитвызавсехвасиовашемспасении, итакжепрошувасвсехмолитьсязаменя, потомучтоятоженуждаюсьввашихмолитвах, ввашейподдержкеисотрудничестве.

Pastoral Letter
of Archbishop Job of Telmessos,
Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch,
to the Clergy, Monks and Faithful
of the Archdiocese of Russian Orthodox Churches in Western Europe

Dear Fathers, beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The year 2015 began with events that have raised great concern not only in France but in the whole world. In fact, the terrorist attacks that targeted a satirical magazine in Paris and a supermarket put on the spot issues of freedom of expression as well as anti-Semitism, integrism, fundamentalism, conservatism and sectarianism.
Obviously, we Christians cannot justify any act of violence. As our Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has said on many occasions, in the words of the Berne Declaration of 1992 and Bosphorus Declaration of 1994, "a crime committed in the name of religion is a crime against religion" and that "war in the name of religion is war against religion". We are Christians, and for this reason, we recognize in every person - regardless of race, gender, political opinions and religious beliefs - our brother and sister, created in the image and likeness of God (Gen 1:26).
For this reason, we Christians cannot, in any way, justify blasphemy, because we love God and our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22 : 7-39). Besides, everyone knows by their own experience that our own freedom stops where the freedom of others begins.
The problem of fundamentalism, whether religious or secular, is always linked to that of ignorance. Those who are not sufficiently familiar with their own faith, and, even more so, know little or nothing of that of others, most often perceive themselves as victims, seeing others as threats, and become vulnerable to group manipulations that lead to the fanaticism and bigotry. Therefore, in the fight against fundamentalism and fanaticism, religious education is of utmost importance.
We, as Christians, and moreover as followers of the Orthodox tradition, have the good fortune of being guided by Sacred Scripture, the Tradition of the Church and Pastors whose authority comes from God, who do not seek to promote their own personal interests or any ideology, but lead us by their teaching charism of the Orthodox faith toward our salvation in Jesus Christ. It is precisely in this spirit, a little over a year ago, that I began my ministry by addressing you by a pastoral letter on the day of my Episcopal ordination, expressing my desire to meet each of you personally, inviting you all to maintain the unity of the ecclesial body as "one flock" under "one shepherd" (John 10:16).
I have since traversed the wide range of our Patriarchal Exarchate, visiting at least once during the year, 31 Parishes and Monasteries, celebrating 145 Divine Liturgies, meeting the Clergy and the faithful during Parish visits and Deanery meetings and by personally receiving you in my office, as well as organizing pastoral meetings and meetings of the wives of our Clergy. At each of these meetings, I tried to be as accessible as possible to all of you, and to be sensitive to spiritual, pastoral, economic and administrative issues in your Parishes. I saw, heard and understood you.
Thus, I know well the spiritual flock entrusted to me. Every liturgical celebration, surrounded as I am by my Clergy and my faithful, brings me great comfort and great joy, because that is where the life of the Church is manifested. In them, I see the enthusiasm and potential evidenced by your faith, and the renewal and blossoming of life in our Parishes, in which the number of followers continues to grow, which cheers me and greatly encourages me to continue my pastoral work.
Therefore, I am familiar, better than anyone, with the outreach and the development of all our parishes, each with its own peculiarities, as well as the problems and needs of our Patriarchal Exarchate to which I seek to respond, with God's help, as best I can with my pastoral and paternal solicitude. To this end, in response to the arrival of new followers, I have had the joy of ordaining 7 new deacons and 3 priests with theological formation, on the recommendation of responsible and competent Priests.
My duties also led me to begin to discover, little by little, dossiers which are, unfortunately, more obscure. It disturbs, upsets and worries a small group, with special interests, which should have no place in the Church, which seems - sadly - to have come together and, although it is very small, attempts to exercise a real, troublesome power. This small group with special interests is trying to introduce divisions among us, using sectarian methods. It is not afraid to make use of distortions of the truth, manipulation, slander, psychological pressure and even personal attacks. It goes without saying that your Archbishop is not afraid of threats, as he is ready to give his life for the life of our Church.
As a Christian and a man of peace, I naturally offer my love and forgiveness to sinners who have been led astray by selfishness, pride or ambition and, with a sincere heart, seek to change, to correct their mistakes and to offer their talents to the service of the common work of the Church. If I have inadvertently hurt some of you in my decisions, I beg your pardon, and assure you that there was nothing personal in these, for they were taken for the good of the Church.
As a Christian and defender of our Orthodox Church, whether or not these agitators of ill will like it or not, I will continue to make the decisions necessary for the good of all of you and of all the Church, of which I am in charge, in terms of doctrinal and moral teaching, administration and management, liturgical life and pastoral ministry according to the Holy Canons and statutes of our Archdiocese.
In the exercise of my ministry, I assure you of my prayers for all of you and for your salvation, and I invite you to pray for me in return, for I need your prayers, your support and your cooperation.
May the spirit of humility guide our hearts, which experience godly sorrow at this time of Lent, so that we may all bear witness, in unity and the peace of Christ, to the hope of the Gospel. God bless you all !
